Washington Saves America

November 17, 2007 at 5:19 am (Uncategorized)

I think that George Washington should be considered a hero because he was the one who boosted up the spirits and hopes of winning the war. He did this by winning two major battles against the British for the Patriots. His strategies and tactics were very impressive. He captured 900 Hessians with just 5 American casualties in the Battle of Trenton. That was some good and effective strategy Washington used to defeat the British. Then, in the Battle of Princeton, he purposely left the campfire on so that the British could see; then Washington and his army surrounded the British army stealthily and attacked the next morning, surprisingly. The Patriots won a convincing victory. After these two battles, Americans won the rest easily as they had high spirits, confidence and hope of winning the battles. All this wouldn’t have happened if George Washington wouldn’t have won those 2 impressive battles. Thanks to him, America is now free!

Letters for Johnny Tremain

Dear James,

I have just recently injured my hand and I’m seeking advice for how to continue with the crippled hand I have now. I was a silversmith until this accident happened in the furnace. When I was pouring the silver into the mold, the mold just broke up and the silver landed on my hand. The silver was so hot that it burnt my hand and later turned it into a crippled hand. Now, I can’t use the hand to do anything. It is worthless and useless. I am trying to get on with my left hand but it is hard. So, I seek your advice on how to get on with my life and this cursed crippled hand.

                                                                 Sincerely,

                                                                        Johnny Tremain

Dear Johnny,

That is one sad story I have just heard about you. I feel sorry for your hand and you must’ve been a very skilled silversmith but life is not fair. There are many places right now that need a boy to work for them but I don’t think that they might accept you because of you hand. So, my advice to you is to go look for a type of job where you won’t really need to use your hands a lot. Maybe a post in a ship would be a good idea. Or, you might as well join our newspaper and be the delivery boy. All you need to do is go around places on a horse and deliver the newspapers. I hope you accept my proffer.

                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                         James
